Shaun Moloney brings a wealth of experience spanning five decades in the rugged landscapes of New Zealand. Hailing from Whakatane, he spent his formative years on the shores of the North Island’s eastern coast. After a brief stint living in Auckland, Shaun embarked on an international journey, pursuing a career in deep-sea diving within the oil fields of South East Asia. In 1990, he made his way back to New Zealand, settling in Queenstown, where he lived rurally and raised a family with his wife Vesta.
Shaun’s diving career covered a wide range skills, including explosive ordinance disposal, historical salvage missions in collaboration with Oxford University, and oilfield construction projects. He has also worked with the United States Military.
For the past three decades, Shaun has dedicated his time to climbing and hunting in the scenic Wakatipu region. As an accomplished operational tracking team leader for Wakatipu Search & Rescue, he takes on a pivotal role in the realm of wilderness safety. Additionally, he serves as a certified New Zealand Police Firearms Instructor, and he holds qualifications as a New Zealand Deerstalkers HUNTS instructor and range assessor. Shaun’s invaluable insights extend to advising various organizations on risk management and best practices in their pursuits.
Shaun is also the owner of Wild Skills which provides bush craft skills and firearms marksmanship training in the Wakatipu region.
